The dremel 1695 scroll saw manual is really no more than a how to guide. It is not a detailed instruction manual for the product. If you have been considering purchasing one of these machines, you need to look elsewhere. This article will explain why.
First of all, as mentioned in my other articles, they require no special tools to operate. Even though this may be true, they still require someone with good hands and someone who know what they are doing with them to use them properly. You cannot operate them by your thumbs or your fingers – you have to have some electronic components on them. That means a working knowledge of electronics is required.
Now that you know you need electrical components to operate them, let me tell you how you can get them…you can go to your local junkyard, garage sale, flea market or second hand store and find components for a reasonable price. Another choice is to read online Brigg’s or Son’s site (or a similar site). There are many good suppliers of this type of equipment on the internet. The supplier should provide a toll free number to answer your questions.
Now, the question remains. Where do you learn to read instructions for a scroll saw? I’ll give you two options:
A) Look for scroll saw manuals at your local DIY center or lumber store. You might even be lucky enough to find a retired employee who used one of these machines to make his living at his shop. A lot of times they will leave you with the machine for a day or two and then give you all the instructions you’ll ever need to use the machine. The advantage of this is that the shop can offer repair services as well.
B) Go online and search for scroll saw instructions. Be prepared to pay a small fee to get access to all of the best material available. Some sites require you to pay for shipping if you order a product over the Web. A lot of sites offer the same information in a downloadable form that you can get by visiting their retail locations. The only difference is that they have to pay to get the information out to the world.
Either way you choose to learn how to read instructions for a scroll saw, you will find that the job will be much easier if you follow the directions closely. The manufacturers always recommend taking your time when working with any piece of machinery. This holds true for scroll saws as well. If you don’t understand what you are doing, taking the time to read the directions is essential.
C) Download instructional videos from YouTube and other sites that offer scroll saw instructions. The quality of these instructional videos is often a lot better than the instruction booklets offered by the manufacturer. The video shows you exactly how to operate the machine step-by-step, so you can do it yourself. Many scroll saw owners actually prefer to watch the instructional video first because they can then see if they understand the process before actually attempting it. There are many good instructional videos out there for you to peruse.
D) Read through the scroll saw’s owner’s manual. The manufacturers of this saw put an instruction manual in the package when the machine is purchased. This is a very good idea because it gives you valuable information on the proper way to use the scroll saw. In particular, you will want to learn how to make cuts on curves and profiles. The instructions will also detail how to stop the scroll saw when you reach the desired depth. It is important to read through all of the instructions because many of the intricate steps require precise skills.
E) Practice your skill on scrap materials. One of the most frustrating aspects of learning how to read instructions for a scroll saw is not being able to apply the correct cuts. Having a steady hand is essential when you are cutting anything with any scroll saw. Even though the scroll saw is not extremely easy to use, with practice you can become a skilled craftsman.
F) Follow the directions carefully and don’t skip steps. Although you may be reading the scroll saw’s owner’s manual, chances are it isn’t written in stone. For example, on the scroll saw’s instructions for making cuts on profiles, it may tell you to start at one side of the piece and slowly cut away. However, if you only see the instruction for one side of the material and find yourself cutting on another material, chances are you didn’t follow the complete instructions! Make sure you fully understand the scroll saw’s instructions before starting a project.
